Your Voices are Creating Real Change!

At Norwich Foodbank, we campaign for a future where Emergency Food isn’t needed at all. As part of the national Trussell network, our collective voices have helped secure historic changes to the UK social security system.

Campaign wins reached together so far:

A Real Universal Credit Boost: For the first time since its introduction, the basic rate of Universal Credit will see an above-inflation increase every single year of this parliament. This ensures support better reflects the actual cost of living.

Reduced debt deductions: fairer Repayment Rates- Automatic debt deductions from Universal Credit have been slashed from 25% to 15%. Thanks to the new Fair Repayment Rate, nearly £40 a month is being put back into the pockets of people who need it most.

Lifting the Two-Child Limit: The restrictive two-child limit has been completely removed. This policy was a massive driver of food bank use. Its removal will lift an estimated 670,000 people, including 470,000 children, out of severe hardship nationwide.

Why this matters locally: Every policy win at the national level directly reduces the pressure on people here in Norwich. It means fewer parents skipping meals and fewer households facing impossible choices between heating and eating.

The Fight Isn’t Over

While we are celebrating these incredible milestones, our work continues. We are incredibly grateful to everyone in Norwich who signs our petitions, speaks to local MPs, and stands with us. If you have time and knowledge to share, and could consider volunteering with Norwich Foodbank around campaigns, contact [email protected] for more information or fill in a volunteer application form HERE
