Psalm 51 verses 1 and 2:
‘Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your loving kindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.’
As we take time to consider and celebrate all the good that Norwich Foodbank does to support those that are in need, let us give praise and thanks to God.
We give thanks for:
1. A year of the Lived Experience Experts panel, with new members, jobs and opportunities created. Let all of us grow in confidence and demonstrate all the benefits of relationship building and trust.
2. A very welcome continued reduction in the numbers of people using us, due to the work of individuals and households, as well as our excellent referral Partners.
3. Increased opportunities to engage in the community through Cubs, Rotary, yoga festival, Norfolk Show and charity of the year events bringing our work to the eyes and ears of people who support us or may support us in the future.
4. Our wonderful volunteer team which continues to increase.
5. Warmer weather meaning less demand on fuel bank.
6. Continued good relationships amongst our referrers as they help people receive support and guiding those in need.
Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This verse reassures us that God has a purpose for our lives, filled with hope and promise.
We pray for:
1. Our recent Trustee recruitment round; for the board as they welcome new members and for those taking on new roles – for wisdom, clarity and fresh perspectives as the board continues to lead Norwich Foodbank
2. Staff, volunteers and Trustees in their roles within the charity team.
3. Continued good working relationships with all referral and other agencies, as we understand new and developing services to help those we see in need.
4. Families and the summer holidays – worries and concerns about childcare or costs or new uniform requirements.
5. Continued support with food and finance donations – we often see a drop-off in the summer months so we pray for wisdom over stock control and new donors to come forward.
6. The local and national government, especially with a new Prime Minister and the summer break. We pray for all those in leadership that they are able to reset and refresh and serve the community and country well.
Foodbank Prayer
God of faithfulness, Your generous love supplies us with all that we need. We know that all we have is yours.
We celebrate the work that you have done in Norwich and Norfolk through foodbank by means of the generous support of many people.
Through foodbank we are able to offer food to the hungry, a drink to the thirsty and compassion to the strangers in our city and county.
Accept our offering of worship and service. May your Spirit empower us to be your hands and feet in our community as we continue to serve those in crisis.
We pray that you bless all those who give and receive. Increase the capacity of foodbank; help the food to get to those who need it most.
Amen
