Foodbank Prayer Letter: February 2026

3 March 2026

Psalm 34:18-22
“The Lord is close to those who have suffered disappointment. He saves those who are discouraged. Good people might have many problems, but the Lord will take them all away. He will protect them completely. Not one of their bones will be broken. But troubles will kill the wicked. The enemies of those who live right will all be punished. The Lord saves His servants. All who go to Him for protection will escape punishment.”

As we take time to consider and celebrate all the good that Norwich Foodbank does to support those that are in need, let us give praise and thanks to God.

We give thanks for:
1. A reduction of 17% in the numbers of people coming to us in 2025
compared to 2024. Let there be future decreasing of those in need
2. Our ‘Lived Experience Experts’ panel and the progress they've made
during 2025 and the hopes and enthusiasm for 2026
3. A fruitful Christmas with new donors and existing donors supporting us
with gifts and an exceptional collection at Tesco Blue Boar in December
and Waitrose in January
4. All the testimonies and stories from people who have used our services,
who readily champion the Partnerships we have with advice and support agencies.
For all the work we have done to reduce the need for our collective services
5. The new money advice charity that St Stephens and St Peter Mancroft
churches have set up and that we are working closely with
6. Support for people beyond food, including practical support through
Acts 435, onward referrals for support through NCAN, SIM cards
supplied by Tesco and cafe provision (food and company) through our
church partners

We pray for:
1. Our staff, Trustees and volunteers, keep them healthy and enthusiastic
so that while the Foodbank benefits from their dedication, they will also
2. Upcoming Lent period and Easter and the ensuing plans and
opportunities that arise for us with donation drives and sermon /
housegroup series available to use
3. Local Government and the planned reorganisation that will affect
Norwich and Norfolk; we pray for the processes and people involved in
these decisions and the upcoming elections
4. Those affected by the two-child limit being lifted may they feel the
benefit for their families especially the children
5. All involved in Norwich Foodbank and Partnerships to act with wisdom,
justice and hope so that we use everything to its best advantage
6. The upcoming visits from cubs, scouts and businesses in the coming
months that they would enjoy their time with us and that an ongoing
relationship would develop.

Foodbank Prayer
God of faithfulness, Your generous love supplies us with all that we need. We
know that all we have is Yours.
We celebrate the work that You have done in Norwich and Norfolk through
foodbank by means of the generous support of many people.
Through foodbank we are able to offer food to the hungry, a drink to the
thirsty and compassion to the strangers in our city and county.
Accept our offering of worship and service.  May Your Spirit empower us to be
Your hands and feet in our community as we continue to serve those in crisis.
We pray that You bless all those who give and receive.  Increase the capacity
of foodbank; help the food to get to those who need it most.
Amen
