A message from Chris Claydon, our British Red Cross advisor.
I have recently qualified for the World Bench-press Championships in Rome later this year and am hoping to improve upon the bronze medal I won in the Masters category last year. I am also using this as an opportunity to highlight and raise funds for another passion of mine and ask for your help and support.
Powerlifting people out of food poverty | Localgiving
For anyone that doesn’t know, I am a British Red Cross project lead and advisor working in several of the foodbanks run by Norwich Foodbank , alongside advisors from several other charities and agencies who all work very closely together. Our role is to help people in food crisis with whatever issues and problems have caused that. Between us we have a success rate of around an incredible 80% !
Sometimes, however, people in food crisis have urgent or emergency needs – often quite small – that simply cannot wait for a funding bid to be put in; things like pet food for rabbits, or clothing or bedding for children after a sudden/emergency rehoming, or a 2nd hand fridge for a family after theirs has suddenly broken down.
This is the fund that I am raising money for.
It is held and managed by the foodbank, only used for emergency goods that simply cannot wait for funding bids, and will always be items purchased on behalf of the client, rather than giving them the cash.
If you could support me by sponsoring me, I would be amazingly grateful. Even if not, could I ask that you forward this email to anyone who may be interested in supporting it?
Your support will directly help those in need, and will help motivate me to lift heavier in the gym every single time I train for this incredible event!
