Thank you football fans!

On Saturday 1st April, volunteers from Norwich foodbank and the Canaries Trust hosted a collection of food and cash donations at Carrow Road ahead of the Norwich v Sheffield United match. This is the 3rd time the two groups have worked together on a pre-match collection and this may be the most successful!

20 crates of items – including much needed instant mash, tinned veg, shampoo and cereal portions – were donated in under 2 hours and over £530 in cash donations on the day. People were also able to make card donations via the Canaries Trust cashless donation so the financial gifts figure is set to rise even higher!

We are extremely grateful to supporters of both footballs teams for their generosity and for several comments of ‘keep up the good work’ and ‘glad to see you here again’ which was really encouraging.

The Canaries Trust and ourselves are hoping that a pre-match collection can become part of the season’s fixtures as we have proved how successful this can be and so we are hopeful that this can become a permanent fixture at Carrow Road.
